LOADING SHOVELS Training Course

This Loading Shovels training course is for experienced participants who drive loading shovels who require underpinning knowledge to operate the machine safely and gain certification.

This course is suitable for loading shovel operators in quarries, gravel pits, saw mills etc.

Course Objectives

This Loading Shovels training course is for experienced participants who drive loading shovels who require underpinning knowledge to operate the machine safely and gain certification. This course is suitable for loading shovel operators in quarries, gravel pits, saw mills etc.

Course Topics
  • Introduction
  • Site safety awareness
  • How to operate the machine safely and effectively
  • Health and safety legislation
  • Pre shift and daily inspection
  • Starting and stopping the machine
  • Using different attachments/log handler/high tip buckets
  • Loading onto hoppers/lorries
  • Grading/ excavating/ practical skills assessment
Legislation

Participants

A maximum of 6 participants can attend each House Certificate Loading Shovels training session.

A maximum of 6 participants can attend each Accredited Certificate Loading Shovels training session.

Duration

Loading Shovels training sessions are usually a 1-day in duration.

Certification

On successful competition of the Loading Shovels course participants will receive a House or Accredited Certificate. The certification will expire after 3-years.

Renewal

Participants are required to renew their training by completing the course again. Renewals should happen before the certification expires, or sooner if indicated by their company’s risk assessment.

Course Entry Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months operation experience
  • One passport size photograph
  • Safe Pass course completed
  • PPE (personal protective equipment) i.e. hard hat, high vis vest, steel capped boots, gloves.

Site Requirements

  • The client is required to provide access to the Loading Shoval which the participants are being trained on during this course.
  • The machine must be in safe working order, if the machine is not the training will not proceed but the training will still be charged.
  • The client is also required to provide access to the site for the practical and suitable space for trainer and participants to demonstrate maneuvers.
